Contrasting foliar and soil nutrients responses to drought induced crown dieback in a Quercus brantii forest

چکیده
Evidence has shown that drought-induced crown dieback significant interaction with soil-plant water and nutrients relationships, but there isn’t sufficient knowledge of the connections in declining Persian oak (Quercus brantii) trees. To investigate relationships between leaf concentrations, content, soil concentrations moisture, one affected stands was selected. This stand located Shalam forested area northern Ilam province, west Iran. trees were evaluated using a classification divided into four classes replicates based on severity dieback. Sampling from leaves implemented randomly sides tree August. Trees moderate to severe showed reduced content (WC) relative (RWC). Leaf N P concentration significantly (p-value <0.05) more than healthy The K <0.10) healthy. N:P amounts statistically different among classes. But no differences observed terms N, P, K, Ca Mg moisture. It concluded drought effects status their changing is for resistance condition, improving use efficiency possibly performance vital activities.

Predicting forest dieback in Maine, USA: a simple model based on soil frost and drought
Tree roots of northern hardwoods are shallow rooted, winter active, and minimally frost hardened; dieback is a winter freezing injury to roots incited by frost penetration in the absence of adequate snow cover and exacerbated by drought in summer. High soil water content greatly increases conductivity of frost. We develop a model based on the sum of z-scores of soil frost (December–February) an...
متن کاملDrought decreases soil enzyme activity in a Mediterranean Quercus ilex L. forest
Longer and more severe drought periods are expected in the near future for Mediterranean ecosystems. Soil enzymes play an essential role in the nutrient mineralization and their activity is an exceptional sensor in predicting the capacity of nutrient supply to plants. We conducted an experiment of water availability manipulation in evergreen oak mountain stands with the aim to study the effects...

Soil phosphorus responses to chronic nutrient fertilisation and seasonal drought in a humid lowland forest, Panama
We used the Hedley sequential fractionation scheme to assess phosphorus (P) chemistry of a strongly weathered soil from a humid lowland forest in Panama. Our analyses were part of a factorial experiment of nitrogen, P, and potassium addition, with nutrients added annually, i.e. a chronic input. The aim was to examine changes in soil P chemistry with 7 years of nutrient addition for soils collec...
متن کاملExperimental and observational studies find contrasting responses of soil nutrients to climate change
Manipulative experiments and observations along environmental gradients, the two most common approaches to evaluate the impacts of climate change on nutrient cycling, are generally assumed to produce similar results, but this assumption has rarely been tested. We did so by conducting a meta-analysis and found that soil nutrients responded differentially to drivers of climate change depending on...
